Philip Andreae, a Belgium-based consultant with extensive experience in smart
cards and electronic commerce systems, will provide a keynote presentation at
the Fall Membership Summit of the Electronic Funds Transfer Association,
according to EFTA Executive Director H. Kurt Helwig.
The Fall Summit, to be held Sept. 30 at the Ritz Carlton in McLean, VA will
focus on the relative roles of the Internet and smart cards in electronic
commerce.
Andreae, who advised companies such as AT&T, IBM, Europay and Philips Semi
Conductor, will address the conference on the changing role of smart cards in
electronic commerce.
“Philip brings a unique perspective to the conference,” said Helwig. “His
experience in Europe and the U.S. gives him an understanding of the success of
smart-card e-commerce in Europe, as well as the problems faced by the nascent
smart card industry in North America.”
Also providing keynote remarks will be Wendy L. Brown, vice president of
electronic commerce at America Online.
The meeting will also feature sessions on the role of EFT networks in remote
banking, creating brand loyalty, and various public sector applications of
electronic commerce.
The Electronic Funds Transfer Association is an inter-industry trade
association dedicated to the advancement of electronic payment systems and
commerce.
