HP Killed Windows 7 Tablet Shown at CES?


During the most recent CES, Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer showed off what looked to be an iPad rival made by HP and running Windows 7.


Ballmer had said that the device, which he called a “slate PC,” would be available later this year.


But a new report suggests that HP — fresh off its $1.2 billion purchase of mobile device maker Palm — has scuttled the Windows 7 tablet, despite its prominence. Enterprise Mobile Today takes a look.


The blogosphere has erupted with reports that Hewlett-Packard has scuttled a Windows 7-based tablet that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer showed off this past January at the Consumer Electronics Show.


The story originated with TechCrunch, citing a source briefed on the matter. TechCrunch said HP (NYSE: HPQ) was dissatisfied with Windows 7 as a tablet OS and Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) hardware because both products were too power-hungry.
