HP is no stranger to the cloud. The computing giant has already rolled out cloud-based services aiming to help with customer education and planning. Now it’s going a step farther with the Cloud Design Service, which offers practical and detailed guidance for cloud implementation.
CIO Update has the details on HP’s latest offering, which runs the gamut from cost estimates to life cycle management and support.
The Cloud Design Service, released this week, follows HP’s (NYSE: HPQ) Cloud Discovery Workshop and Cloud Roadmap Service. Whereas Discovery Workshop was more educational, designed to help people learn about cloud computing, and Roadmap Service was a planning service to help plan a future deployment, Design Service actually gets into the nitty gritty of implementation.
Cloud Design Service will compare a customer’s requirements against their existing datacenters and systems and design a custom cloud infrastructure around that, along with an implementation plan. HP will provide cost estimates and guidelines for deployment, testing and operational management.
“Organizations of all types are struggling to understand how to build a cloud-specific infrastructure that is safe and effective while meeting their business objectives,” Alan Wilson, vice president of the Solutions Infrastructure Practice, Technology Services at HP, said in a statement. “HP has the experience to help clients ensure the design and implementation of Cloud infrastructure will deliver the expected benefits today and in the future.”
HP uses its own cloud reference architecture designed by HP Labs and ITIL v3 for best practices in designing the customer’s cloud system. The plan includes cost estimates, guidelines for deployment, testing, operational management, service life cycle management, governance and support.
