Informix Corp., a provider of
database technology, and Fort Point Partners Inc., a
San Francisco-based Internet database consulting firm, announced the
expansion of
technology to support the e-commerce Web site of Egghead Computer Inc.
Fort Point Partners will be adding Informix’s Universal Data Option, the next
generation of its Web Integration Option to Egghead’s Web site in order to
manage its rapid growth.
The Egghead site was designed and built with the support of Fort Point
Partners and is based on Informix’s database technology.
The addition of the Universal Data Option will extend traditional relational
database functionality of the Informix database and will give Egghead
increased scalability and faster performance, Fort Point said.
It will also provide the opportunity to incorporate new data types, such as
photographs, video, and sound; and new industry-specific business logic
such as package routing rules or complex currency exposure analysis.
