Inktomi Corp. Thursday agreed to bundle
application provider Vignette Corp.’s
V/Series e-business platform with its traffic server and content delivery
suite.
With the deal, content and commerce providers will actively manage the
distribution, delivery and management of their Web content at the edge of
the network. The integrated solution makes the delivery of premium Web
content more streamlined, scalable and manageable.
For Inktomi (INKT), the addition of Vignette’s (VIGN) application bolsters its traffic server and delivery suite used by such major networks as Adero, Digital Island Inc. (ISLD)
and Enron Corp. (ENE).
“By extending the benefits of the Vignette V/5 eBusiness Platform to the
edges of networks, the Inktomi-Vignette alliance will provide our customers
with unprecedented control over their content,” said Bill Daniel, Vignette
senior vice president of products.
In addition to these distributed content management initiatives, Vignette
and Inktomi are looking to ink enterprise developments regarding a range of
integration points between the Vignette e-business platform and Inktomi’s
Portal Services, aimed at allowing Vignette customers to proactively inject
content and product offers into major search and commerce services.
