Keeping its finger on the pulse of one of the fastest growing markets for digital music, MP3.com, Inc. today announced the launch of its Asia division, a venture that will combine local language sites with digital music content and services specific to Asian markets.
MP3.com’s Asia presence will seek out partnerships with regional content providers as well as establish the company’s independent digital artists service Instant Listening through which amateur and professional musicians can post their music on the MP3.com site.
The new division will also focus on providing locally relevant services through technology and marketing partnerships throughout Asian countries.
“We expect to be available in local languages in each area. Serving people in their own language is an important part of launching MP3.com in Asia,” said Sean Kane, general manager for Asia MP3.com.
Erik Newton has also been named general manager for Asia MP3.com.
MP3.com is based in San Diego.
