PlanetRx.com, a healthcare site for
commerce, content and community, recently signed a marketing and e-commerce alliance
to bring disease state management programs of Parke-Davis, a
division of Warner-Lambert, to consumers.
According to the terms of the multi-year agreement, PlanetRx.com will receive
guaranteed payments from Parke-Davis, a manufacturer of prescription and
non-prescription products, over the course of the pact. In return,
Parke-Davis will be the exclusive therapeutic disease state sponsor and will
sponsor several disease specific PlanetRx.com satellite Web sites.
Disease state management is a systematic, proactive management model that
facilitates an organized approach to a person’s course of treatment. The
primary objectives are to improve drug compliance and improve patient
education. The interactivity available through the Internet makes disease
state management programs more accessible, convenient and efficient.
PlanetRx.com said it plans to seek similar alliances for its numerous other
satellite sites such as arthritis.com, impotence.com, infertility.com,
cancer.com and obesity.com.
“Warner-Lambert is committed to increasing the visibility and access to its
disease state management programs,” said Maurice Renshaw, president,
Parke-Davis U.S., vice president, Warner-Lambert.
“We chose to work with
PlanetRx.com because of its dedication to providing consumers with resources
that may help them to have a better quality of life.”
The prescription site was also in the news earlier this month as the recipient of a $50 million round of investment led by News Corp. and E*Trade Group.
