Spiegel Exec Heads uBid

CMGI’s Chicago-based online auction operation uBid Inc. named a Spiegel Catalog Inc.
executive as its new president and CEO and a former Forbes.com Inc. chief
financial officer as its new CFO.

The new boss is Christian Feuer, who had been senior vice president of
marketing and advertising production at Spiegel Catalog, Inc., a subsidiary
of the Spiegel Group .

Feuer oversaw marketing, sales and catalog production at Spiegel and
maintained management and P&L responsibility for the Spiegel web sites. He
replaces Greg Jones, who left the company about six to eight months ago.

The new CFO is Robert Tomlinson Jr., who had been responsible for all
financial planning and reporting functions, as well as contract relations,
business development and compensation planning for the sales and business
development units at Forbes.com.

Feuer and Tomlinson join Norman Hullinger on the expanded uBid management
team. A former Yahoo! Auctions exec, Hullinger last month was named to the
new position of senior vice president of operations. He has responsibility
for all of the company’s operations functions, including warehousing,
distribution infrastructure and ‘back-end’ transactional activities, as well
as oversight of uBid’s call center and customer care teams.

uBid
scored a coup
in March when Hewlett Packard selected the company for the
launch of ChooseHP, a co-branded, fixed-price
shopping site for members of affinity groups allied with HP.

Once an Internet powerhouse, Andover, Mass.-based CMGI has been hit hard by
the Internet recession and its stock is now trading around $1 a share.

uBid was founded in April 1997 as a division of Creative Computers, a U.S.
catalog retailer, to help the company move its excess and refurbished
computing inventory online. In April 2000, uBid joined the CMGI network as a
majority-owned operating company.
