Sterling Commerce Licenses SpaceWorks Order Manager

Sterling Commerce Inc., a provider of business-to-business e-commerce software products and value-added services, signed an OEM agreement with SpaceWorks Inc., which markets extranet
commerce software.

Under the agreement, Sterling Commerce has licensed SpaceWorks OrderManager
V 3.0., a software application that manages order processing and fulfillment
operations via the Web. Sterling Commerce has incorporated OrderManager into
its COMMERCE:Interact service. Financial terms were not disclosed.

OrderManager enables COMMERCE:Interact to provide a secure Web-based
catalog and customer order processing services for business-to-business
transactions.

COMMERCE:Interact includes Sterling Commerce’s Web community management,
operations management and Web site hosting services to provide tailored Web-
based catalogs and order processing systems that link to a customer’s back-
office business systems. The addition of OrderManager will accelerate the
deployment of COMMERCE:Interact for Sterling Commerce’s managed service
customers, the company said.

OrderManager allows customers, distributors and resellers to access specific
product, pricing and inventory information, in real-time, via a Web browser.
In addition, OrderManager enables organizations to automatically fulfill
orders, ship products and check order status.

As part of this new business relationship, Maryland-based SpaceWorks is
offering its OrderManager customers the option to contract with Sterling
Commerce for value-added services as an alternative to in-house hosting.
