Marimba, Inc. today announced that Ticketmaster will use its Castanet technology to update data and enhance Ticketmaster Online.
Ticketmaster said it is incorporating Marimba’s Castanet UpdateNow to ease the complexity of constantly updating data associated with Ticketmaster Online, the standalone ticketing service that provides consumers with access to tickets and event information over the Internet.
Castanet will also be used to notify users when new events are available through Ticketmaster Online. The service is designed to deliver interactive content to fans’ desktops about their favorite events, and will enable them to purchase the tickets they select online.
“Marimba’s Castanet product is a tremendous asset to our online
services,” said Robert Perkins, vice president of Ticketmaster Multimedia. “As the world’s largest ticketing service, it is
crucial that we keep track of the hundreds of events and
thousands of seating changes that might change by the second.”
Ticketmaster Online is the Internet’s leading event ticketing and
information source, with more than 30,000 listings. Entertainment fans can purchase tickets in real time for most events. The Ticketmaster system automatically identifies the best seats available at the time of purchase, and online seating charts allow fans to check their locations before making a purchase.
