Vicinity Corp. said its Internet-based
Maps and Business Finder services are now available in Germany, Switzerland,
France, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Vicinity signed partnerships with Berlin-based Aperto Multimedia, a multimedia agency that
supplies Internet solutions for internal and external corporate
communications; the pan-European Icon MediaLab,
a provider of digital communications solutions; and Kataweb, the Internet
division of Italy’s largest publisher, Gruppo L’Espresso. Financial
arrangements were not disclosed.

The partner companies will make available Vicinity’s geographic services
throughout their home countries and their own customer bases.

“European and multinational companies now have a service for leveraging
their Web sites to attract customers and drive traffic to their neighborhood
store fronts,” said Emerick Woods, president and CEO of Vicinity.

Vicinity’s Maps are interactive, detailed electronic maps that customers can
incorporate into their Web sites to provide users with the real-world
locations of retail store fronts.

Vicinity’s Business Finder gives corporations, dealerships or franchises
a Web-based locator service they can integrate into their sites to provide
proximity and
multi-attribute proximity search capabilities to their Web users. Customers
can search for the location with the product or service they want closest to
them.
