Yahoo! Says Yippee!

Yahoo! Inc. said its e-commerce transaction volume on the day
after Thanksgiving was more than twice what it was for the same period a year

The results follow last week’s launch of expanded shopping services for
consumers, including Yahoo! ShoppingVision, a rich media extension of Yahoo!
Shopping, and the availability of Yahoo! Shopping on Web-enabled phones.

And the most popular products? Yahoo! Shopping sales and search data shows
the hot ticket items this year are Playstation 2 Games, anything Grinchy,
DVDs, Razor scooters and digital cameras, as well as robotic dogs, Dragonball
Z, and MP3 players.

The results from Friday “…validate our strategy of offering consumers a wide
selection of brand name merchandise from thousands of trusted merchants, as
well as convenient features like Yahoo! Wallet that make online shopping
easy,” said Rob Solomon, director of production at Yahoo! Shopping.

Yahoo! also said that the average number of daily transactions in the first
three weeks of November 2000 increased 120 percent from November 1999.

Meanwhile, in terms of number of visitors to e-commerce sites, online
measurement firm NetRatings said that its Holiday E-Commerce Index, which
measures Web surfing in eight product categories, surged an average of 27
percent the day after Thanksgiving, compared to the rest of the week.
Clothing and consumer electronics sites led the gainers.

In terms of traffic, skyrocketed 93 percent, followed by, which soared 86 percent, and, up 85 percent.

Consumer electronics sites rose 46 percent, with jumping 126
percent in unique audience at home on Friday. rose 48 percent,
and increased 40 percent in traffic.
