Cloud computing and virtualization are two hot technologies that get plenty of media coverage in tech websites like InternetNews.com and tradeshow events. But all the media attention and a string of new releases from various vendors, doesn’t necessarily mean enterprises are jumping in with both feet to adopt cloud computing and virtualization because it’s not necessarily an easy transition. Server Watch reports on CA Technologies purchase of 4Base, a company that specializes in cloud and virtualization consulting services. CA said 4Base will be a core part of a new consulting service the company is forming for enterprise customers. 4Base’s CEO said that while enterprise interest in cloud computing and virtualization is high, potential customers need more examples of proven best practices.
CA Technologies has acquired 4Base technology, a privately-held consulting firm specializing in virtualization and cloud infrastructure.
With the purchase, CA (NASDAQ: CA) said it will use 4Base to create a new virtualization and cloud strategy group within its services division. Terms of the deal, announced Thursday, were not disclosed.
“As CA Technologies expands its role as a strategic partner and advisor to customers on the journey from virtualization to cloud computing, we are investing in both the software and consulting services needed to achieve substantial business results,” Adam Elster, general manager of CA Services, said in a statement.
