Allaire Gets In the ASP Game

Allaire Corporation (Nasdaq: ALLR), a leading provider of software for companies building their business on the web, announced Monday (Nov 6) at its Second Annual Developer Conference, new licensing options and tailored partner programs for Applications Service Providers (ASPs).

The Commercial Service Provider Licensing Program is being introduced with pay-as-you-go payment structures and bundled services that appeal to ASPs and hosting companies. In support of the program, Allaire has also expanded the Allaire Alliance to include a new ASP category and has added new partners who offer ASP-enabling products and services for the Allaire Business Platform.

Allaire has more than 400 independent software vendors (ISVs) and OEM customers that offer commercial applications based on Allaire products, many which now offer their software in the ASP model.

Event-planning ASP Event411 uses Allaire’s award-winning ColdFusion technology to create applications for its clients. Its professional product, PremierPlanner 2.5, gives corporate clients, including the Democratic National Convention 2000, Roth Capitol, CIBA Vision and Women.future, the power to plan meetings, interact with attendees and streamline the logistics of complex events on their corporate intranet or web sites. Event411’s Wedding Planner is integrated into its consumer clients’ web sites, like JCPenney.com and Discovery.com, allowing users to plan their entire wedding online.

“Our ASP business model demands that we offer comprehensive, feature-rich and complete solutions to our customers,” said Steven R. Koltai, CEO, chairman and founder of Event411. “Our ASP model combined with ColdFusion technology helps us get our product out the door sooner.”

evolutionB, an Allaire Alliance Strategic Technology Partner, offers SynergyNOW, a suite of ASP-enabling enhancements to ColdFusion. These enhancements include wireless access, a services provisioning and metering framework, multi-language capability and enhanced user management and security.

As a part of its ASP initiative, Allaire has created the ASP Solutions area on Allaire.com for both customers and partners. Allaire has also designated hosting partners who have met technical and business requirements as Allaire Certified Hosting Partners.

“As software functionality continues to migrate to the web, ISVs will continue to adopt the ASP business model,” said Jeff Whatcott, director of business development at Allaire. “Allaire’s focus on delivering innovative, productive software for building scalable web applications is a perfect fit for the emerging ASP community.”
