In a move designed to help service providers and telecoms offer low-cost, hosted messaging to their consumer and small business customers, Apptix today announced the launch of High Volume Messaging (HVM).
The Sterling, Va.-based private-label ASP said that it developed HVM to help service providers quickly and profitably roll out high-volume messaging services based on Microsoft Exchange 2000.
Apptix’s HVM solution is also designed to assist service providers migrating customers from Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) to Microsoft Exchange 2000.
According to Microsoft’s Web site, it announced in late 2000 that MCIS version 2.5 would be the last release of that product and recently issued a statement that MCIS support will end on December 31, 2002. Microsoft is recommending Exchange 2000 as the platform for messaging solutions.
“Apptix’s High Volume Messaging solution is well-suited for our MCIS service providers that want to take advantage of Microsoft Exchange 2000,” said Fredrik Winsnes, Microsoft’s general manager for NSP Solutions Development, in a statement. “Some longtime MCIS providers want to move up to the enhanced functionality and flexibility of Exchange 2000. By taking advantage of Apptix’s HVM and its Revenue Assurance Services program, service providers will have the tools they need to succeed in today’s highly competitive consumer messaging marketplace.”
HVM is available immediately and includes the following features:
- POP3, customized Web mail; personal Web pages; Instant Messaging (IM); Short-Message-Services (SMS).
- Turnkey implementation for rapid market entry in as little as 30 days.
- Simple, usage-based fee structure to minimize upfront costs.
- Managed service with lower total cost of ownership.
- Full service provider branding, including subscriber Web sites, domain names, documentation and self-administration interfaces.
- Revenue Assurance Services (RAS) to create up-sell opportunities and ensure market success.
Apptix, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for Hosting and Application Services, was recently named the Global Service Provider of the Year for Hosting and Application Services by Microsoft (see Upstart Apptix Nets Microsoft Honors).
HVM requires no upfront capital expenditure, according to Apptix. Hardware and software installation costs are included in the monthly subscriber fee. The HVM platform can be deployed in the data center of either the service provider or Apptix, with Apptix-provided remote monitoring and management and a 99.5 percent service level guarantee, according to Apptix.
Apptix is listed by ASPnews as a Top 30 Enabler.
