After years running on a hybrid application server platform, automotive information resources provider Edmunds.com Thursday selected BEA Systems to provide its WebLogic Enterprise Platform as the foundation for its new architecture.

Edmunds.com offers consumers True Market Value pricing tools, insurance and financing resources, vehicle reviews and comparisons, warranty and performance information, and access to new and used car buyers and sellers.

The company serves about 200,000 daily visitors, and, as it lines up partnerships with large media companies, the firm said it decided it is time to migrate to a more robust platform.

Edmunds plans to build out its infrastructure over the next six to 12 months, expanding its business by linking its services to those of its new partners, which include Web news, entertainment and shopping destinations.

“BEA’s technology will be a strategic enabler for us,” said Jack Cate, director of systems architecture at Edmunds.
