Cape Clear Debuts Web Services Tool

Jul 17, 2001

Cape Clear Software today announced the beta program for its CapeStudio Web Services development tool, a Rapid Application Development (RAD) tool that enables software developers to graphically build and deploy Web Services.

CapeStudio automatically generates code for Java or Visual Basic from Web Services Description Language (WSDL) files, which describe the interfaces to Web Services, thus reducing the time and complexity involved in building a Web Service. CapeStudio also provides a completely graphical environment for defining bi-directional transformations between Extensible Markup Language (XML) documents and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) messages.

“CapeStudio brings a new level of ease-of-use to Web Services, automating much of the code generation and opening Web Services to a whole new range of developers and business analysts,” said John Maughan, CapeStudio product manager at Cape Clear Software. “Web Services have succeeded in delivering cross-platform integration across the Internet, but unless the development and deployment of Web Services is made widely accessible its success will be hampered. CapeStudio provides that access.”

CapeStudio is a stand-alone Web Services development environment that works with any Web Services platform that adheres to the XML, SOAP, WSDL and Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) industry standards. CapeStudio and Cape Clear’s CapeConnect Web Services platform work together to provide a design-to-deployment solution for Web Services.

CapeStudio is available immediately as part of a beta program. Pricing will be announced when the product is commercially available in Q3 2001, however it is expected to cost under $500. Founded in 1999, Cape Clear is a privately held firm with offices in Dublin, London and Walnut Creek, Calif.
