Chapter 2, a San Francisco, Calif.-based provider of global operating infrastructure for Internet-based business applications, today introduced a company name change and new corporate identity to better reflect the company’s vision and expansion of its service base. The new name – Avasta – comes from the Sanskrit “vasta” meaning “to stand and remain.”
“We wanted our new identity to take us into the millennium,” said Ritu Raj, president and CEO of Avasta. “We learned from our customers and employees that the words `freedom’ and `certainty’ came to mind most often when they thought about our global operating infrastructure. This feedback led us to the word Avasta because we aim provide our customers with the freedom and security to focus on their core business while we operate, manage and support their infrastructure.”
The name Avasta, which will take effect immediately, defines the company’s commitment to providing customers with a Fortune 50-caliber operating infrastructure and exceptional end-user support. The Avasta global operating infrastructure allows any company that has Internet-based business applications to reduce time to market and eliminate IT staffing challenges, giving them the freedom to focus on their core competencies.
“Our long-term strategy is to position Avasta as the brand every company seeks to provide their operating infrastructure,” said Peter J. Buscemi, vice president, global marketing for Avasta. “Our re-branding efforts are focused on communicating our value proposition of freedom, certainty and reliability to our customers.”
Launched in March 2000, Avasta is one of the first companies built specifically to provide a global enterprise-class infrastructure, managed services and support for Internet-based business applications. The company has secured financing from Alliance Capital, American Express, Convergence Partners, Sand Hill Capital and Hewlett-Packard Company.
