Conxion Makes A Sure Move

Conxion Corp. the Santa Clara, Calif.-based provider of managed hosting services, today announced the launch of a new service for its European customers in the UK, Holland and Belgium, designed to help companies transition to Conxion’s managed hosting service from their current co-location hosting provider.

In allowing customers to turn over their existing servers to a Conxion managed hosting facility, the SureMove service, already available to US customers since May, 2001, can help protect both the hardware and software in which they have already invested, says Antonio Salerno, founder and chief executive officer of Conxion.

“The superiority of managed hosting over co-location, in terms of performance, reliability and security, has been widely recognized for sometime, but the sticking point for many companies has been their existing, and often substantial, investment in hardware,” he explains.

Salerno argues that managed hosting providers have not generally supported customers’ existing hardware, but he says the SureMove service removes the barrier to the decision to move to a managed hosting company as an increasing numbers of co-location customers are uncertain about the long-term viability of their current deployment or provider.

Customers looking to upgrade to a fully managed service are expected to benefit most from the service and Conxion estimates that those using SureMove can expect to see reductions of up to 55 percent in their total cost of hosting.

“There is so much noise in the hosting market today that a customer could either be petrified about what to do or has by now tuned out all the noise,” says Andrew Schroepfer, president of analyst firm Tier 1 Research. “For those customers interested in switching providers, Conxion’s migration programme presents a solid option worth considering.”
