Dell, Excite@Home in Broadband Pact

Direct computer retailer Dell Computer
Corp.
Wednesday entered an alliance with high-speed Internet provider Excite@Home in which Dell will offer Excite@Home cable Internet access to its customers.

The agreement is specifically for customer’s of Dell’s Dimension desktop and Inspiron notebook PCs. When ordering the computers, buyers can order Excite@Home service directly from Dell’s customer service representatives.

No financial terms of the agreement were disclosed.

By working with Dell (DELL), Excite@Home (ATHM) said it expects to drive up subscriber growth while reducing the time and cost associated with
customer order processing.

“You can now order your PC and @Home broadband access from a single source.
Excite@Home and Dell are the first to make this happen,” said Tom Jermoluk, CEO and
chairman, Excite@Home. “The @Home service is a perfect Internet solution for the Dell
customer — a savvy user who demands the most out of their Internet experience.”

Excite@Home currently provides cable Internet service more than 89 markets throughout the country, including San Diego,Calif.; Dallas, Nashville,Tenn.; Philadelphia, and central New Jersey. Cable companies who have partnered to provide the service include AT&T, Bresnan, Century, Charter,
Comcast, Midco and Suburban, with additional partners expected to join this program in the near future.
