Internet managed hosting provider Digex, Inc. is adding advanced database management services to its portfolio. The services employ Oracle Enterprise Manager for Oracle and NetIQ AppManager for SQL Server.
Clients can work with Digex to monitor specific aspects of a database, proactively detect and respond to potential problems, tune a database , and leverage trending reports for long-term capacity planning. The new services can be used alone or as part of a complete database administration outsourcing effort to Digex.
“The database is at the heart of every serious e-business site,” said Martha Gilbertson, vice president of product management at the Laurel, Md.-based Digex. “Poor performance at the database level can result in failed transactions, unacceptable response times and ultimately lost business. We have chosen best- of-breed technology with both Oracle Enterprise Manager and NetIQ AppManager so that as clients move more of their vital applications to the Internet, they can be assured of proper management of their key corporate data and optimal performance of their sites.”
Digex also offers value-added enterprise and professional services, including performance and security testing, monitoring, reporting and networking services.
“As we focus on developing more complex, transaction-oriented sites for our financial services clients, we rely on Digex to handle our database administration needs,” said Robert Sullivan, CEO of OpenClose Technologies, a developer of mortgage technology solutions for the financial services industry. “Our relationship with Digex strengthens our position in the financial services market and gives us the right automation and analysis to understand how to improve overall database performance, lifting that burden off our internal resources.”
