EarthLink Network Inc. and Mail.com Inc. Thursday partnered to produce
a new Web-based e-mail service.
EarthLink members can get their e-mail from anywhere there’s an
Internet-ready computer.
Using Mail.com (MAIL)
Web technology, EarthLink (ELNK)
members may access their e-mail accounts from any computer connected to the
Internet.
Tom Andrus, EarthLink director of consumer product management, said
EarthLink has a very mobile customer base, so Web-based e-mail was a
critical service to provide in order to keep its clients happy.
“Offering members access to their e-mail accounts as simply as possible,
and in as many different places as possible, is a top priority,” Andrus
said. “Mail.com’s technology has allowed us to go even further toward
providing people with ubiquitous access to their EarthLink e-mail.”
Lon Otremba, Mail.com chief operating officer, said the firm was pleased to
extend its reach to EarthLink members.
“Our relationship with EarthLink further expands our reach in the ISP
marketplace, while providing EarthLink members with universal access to
their email,” Otremba said.
The Web-based e-mail service dubbed WebMail, is available at no additional
cost to EarthLink members and may be accessed through the EarthLink
personal start page.
