Ensim Targets Dedicated Server Market

Ensim Corp., a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based hosting automation service provider, today announced Ensim WEBppliance Basic for Linux, which it describes as the first commercial-grade control panel software for Web masters managing their own dedicated Web server.

According to Ensim, WEBppliance Basic is designed to minimize the expertise required to manage a dedicated server, enabling shared hosting customers to easily move to a dedicated server environment.

“Webmasters would like to migrate to dedicated servers to improve performance, security and reliability, but lack the expertise required to administer a Linux-based server,” said Steve Dauber, vice president of marketing for Ensim Corp., said. “Existing control panels have not addressed this issue, as they primarily target hosting resellers who require sophisticated but complex functionality.”

Ensim reports WEBppliance Basic will allow service providers to offer dedicated servers to a broader set of customers. In addition, WEBppliance Basic for Linux can be added to their product solutions without incremental burdens to the technical support staff, as there is no additional product for them to learn.

WEBAppliance Basic includes the following features, according to Ensim:

  • Control panels to accomplish sophisticated hosting tasks such as restarting processes, adding subdomains, setting up e-mail and configuring e-commerce.
  • Quick start guides to lead novices through basic hosting tasks
  • User interface designed specifically for WEBAppliance Basci
  • On-line help for all hosting functions

Ensim WEBppliance Basic for Linux is schedule to be available, in both English and German versions, by the the end of the month from authorized service providers andpartners worldwide.
