Cygent Inc., which offers a comprehensive eBusiness Support System (eBSS) solution for the communications industry, today (Jan 2) announced that Genuity Inc. (Nasdaq:GENU) has licensed Cygent to provide Genuity partners and enterprise customers with ordering and customer service capabilities across all interaction points.

“Cygent’s vision of integrating the customer-retailer-wholesaler demand chain is both innovative and forward-thinking,” said Genuity CIO Debra Speight. “This solution will help us become more efficient by automating more transactions, while providing our partners and customers better access and control over their accounts and orders.”

The Internet infrastructure services provider will implement Cygent so that its enterprise customers, partners and customer service representatives have universal access to customer, account and order information. Genuity plans to integrate Cygent with its other offerings, which include Vitria for enterprise application integration, Kenan/Lucent for billing, and several proprietary systems.

The Cygent-powered solution initially will be rolled out to Genuity’s enterprise customers and partners to order and manage broadband services — over the Internet with Cygent’s Self-Care Portal, and through Genuity’s internal agents, with the Universal Agent Portal. Cygent and Genuity also plan to implement an XML-based B-to-B portal to give Genuity and its reseller partners seamless back-office communications.

“We are very pleased to be working with Genuity, a clear thought-leader in recognizing that customers and partners are their biggest assets,” said Dick Moore, Cygent’s senior vice president of worldwide sales. “By streamlining their customer-retailer-wholesaler demand chain, Genuity will continue its leadership in providing exceptional service through easy-to-use self-care and integrated call center interactions.”

Genuity is a leading Internet infrastructure services provider that offers a Network Services Platform (NSP). Genuity’s NSP combines its Tier 1 network with a full portfolio of managed Internet services — including dedicated, remote and broadband access, web hosting and Internet security — to create a platform for creating scalable and repeatable managed eBusiness solutions.
