Globix Corp. a New York-based managed hosting service provider, today announced the addition of three new customers for its Microsoft Hosted Exchange 2000 service, which it offers
in collaboration with its application partner Apptix.
Good news has been rare of late for Globix, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March. Earlier this month, the company reported a net loss of $87.6 million on revenues of $21.4 million (see Globix Still Shedding Losses).
Globix reports that the customer wins — which include a public relations firm, a financial services
company and Campden, a London-based publishing company — have
contributed to the company’s tripling its sales of Hosted Microsoft Exchange 2000.
“Not only does this leverage the power of
Microsoft Exchange, but also reduces our support and operating costs. The number
of new customer wins for Globix is accelerating in areas such as this is a
testament to the market demand for Microsoft Exchange 2000 in a hosted
environment and demand for our services overall,” Peter Stevenson, CEO of Globix, said in a statement released today. “Globix views the Apptix partnership as the logical
way to leverage their proven expertise with our reliable, high availability,
turnkey solutions.”
Apptix, a recent spinoff of ASP pioneer TeleComputing (see The Next Generation of ASPs), offers private-label versions of hosted Microsoft applications to telcos, managed hosting providers and service providers.
“Globix is rapidly increasing the number of customers
using this hosted Exchange solution, enabled by Apptix,” said Jason Donahue,
Apptix’s CEO and President. “This shows that
there is strong interest in using Globix to outsource Microsoft e-mail services,
both in the U.S. and U.K.”
Apptix is based in Sterling, Va. and is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for Hosting and Application
Services. The company is also listed by ASPnews as a Top 30 Enabler.
