IBM, Software.com Deliver Messaging Platform

IBM Corp. Tuesday
sealed a deal with Software.com to
deliver carrier-scale messaging solutions targeted to Internet service
providers.

Under terms of the agreement, IBM has a worldwide license to market, sell and
distribute Software.com’s InterMail messaging and directory products to
ISPs.

InterMail is a secure messaging server solution, designed for ISPs to
provide its users with Web-based e-mail, mailboxes and private domains.
IBM’s strategy is to integrate InterMail into its Intelligent Subscriber
Management System, a comprehensive solution for managing an ISP’s
relationship with its customers.

“The rapid growth of Internet subscribers is increasing ISP demand for
new services and improved service
quality, such as carrier-scale messaging,” said Steven Oriola, ISP segment
executive, IBM Global Telecommunications Industry.

“Software.com’s InterMail platform has emerged as the de facto standard for
the large scale messaging platform ISPs are seeking–one that is scalable,
manageable and reliable.”
