MedSeek and U.S. Navy Medicine Ink Deal

The United States Navy Medicine has signed an agreement to use MedSeek’s SiteMaker as a content management tool to manage its Web site.

SiteMaker will provide the tools to extend U.S. Navy Medicine’s Web services to customers’ patient beneficiaries.

“SiteMaker is allowing us to become the Yahoo! of Navy Medicine,” said Lt. Michael Whitecar, executive assistant for Capt. Yamodis, deputy director, eBusiness Services. “It’s enabling us to provide self service for business solutions.”

“The U.S. Navy is the largest health system in the world,” said Peter Kuhn, president of MedSeek. “Delivering consistent, timely and accurate health information and news to their personnel is an ongoing and major effort,” Kuhn explained. “SiteMaker will give the U.S. Navy the platform it needs to meet this challenge as well as providing an enterprise-wide tool for connecting internal resources. Non-technical Navy personnel will be able to collaborate with other Naval hospitals throughout the world through multiple, but connected, websites and Intranets.”

The Bureau of Medicine and Surgery provides healthcare to about 700,000 active-duty Navy and Marine Corps members and to 2.6 million active duty, retired and family members at a little more than half the national per capita average.

MedSeek is a Solvang, Calif.-based Web services provider that develops customized Web presentations for healthcare institutions, providers and related industries.
