In an attempt to reach Internet novices, MeterNet Friday launched a low-cost,
easy-to-use Internet set-top box and is looking to Internet providers to
help market the device.

The set-top devices are designed to allow individuals to access the
Internet using their televisions and a standard phone line. The firm said
it is
targeting ISPs as part of its private label program, hoping they will
include the box as part of their service plan to customers.

Formed in 1996, MeterNet leverages digital channels, including Internet
appliances and premium CD-ROMs, to help companies build their brands using
direct-marketing techniques.
