One-time fee Internet provider netgenie Online Friday announced local numbers are now available in more than 1,200 U.S. cities.

“We’re excited to share that we’ve extended our reach so drastically,” said
Mark Shander, netgenie’s director of marketing. Netgenie has been
offering Internet access for about a year, but only started offering the
access marketed as a single fee online service in September of last year.

Shander added that netgenie plans to add another bank of POPs further
expanding their local access available in the US in about 3 weeks.

“Netgenie Online is experiencing explosive growth, and being able to
provide local dial-up numbers from so many more U.S. cities helps us extend
the value of our free Internet access service,” Shander said.

Netgenie customers purchase a software package for under $100 that lets
users access the Internet with no monthly fees and no hidden costs.

Netgenie’s business model is similar to broadcast television since
Internet access is completely advertiser-supported. Netgenie uses advertising revenue as well e-commerce income to
replace revenues that would have been collected from monthly service fees.
Each month, netgenie users are asked to fill out a survey that provides the
company with information utilized to update web content and merchandise.

Earlier this month, netgenie announced it had upgraded
its free Web-based e-mail service with cutting-edge, state of the art software. The enhanced free e-mail service is available to anyone with access to the Internet.
