NetLedger Inc., a San Mateo, Calif.-based Net-native ASP, today announced that its NetSuite online service now includes a Web platform for building e-commerce applications.
The NetSuite application programming interface (API) is called the Web Store Developer Kit and is designed to provide companies with a way to convert their Web sites into database-driven e-commerce sites with integrated front- and back-office operations.
“I have been responsible for creating database driven e-commerce sites, and only the largest companies can afford to build them,” said Zach Nelson, president and CEO of NetLedger. “The WSDK is a major break-through in allowing companies of all sizes to treat their customers the way sites like Amazon.com do.”
The API is designed to integrate NetSuite’s front- and back-office service into any Web site through an HTML script/query interface. The scripts provide real-time product, entity and custom record data such as pricing, inventory, contacts or payment terms. Editing the data in NetSuite’s interface dynamically updates the information displayed on the Web site, the company reports.
CRM capabilities include automatic event-driven customer communication, individualized customer portals and a suite of customer self-service features. The NetSuite system automatically sends e-mails to customers when an order is placed or shipped, including tracking numbers, methods of shipment. NetSuite, NetLedger said, also allows customers to offer online support either by embedding trouble-ticket forms directly on the Web site or by publishing a knowledge base.
The free shopping cart is designed to streamline customer interactions with event-driven e-mail upon order shipment, fulfillment and lead captured. The checkout process includes secure credit card processing including verification, authorization and payment. It also includes invoicing with terms, customizable checkout and registration forms and UPS OnlineTools.
The Web Store Developer Kit allows external Web sites to use NetSuite’s inventory management and shipping capabilities to process orders in real-time. Using the new API, the NetSuite product catalog can serve real-time pricing and inventory data. Customer-specific pricing for business-to-business customers is also available, NetLedger said.
