CyberShift, a Parsippany, N.J.-based ASP, announced today that it has signed a contract to provide hosted workplace mangement software to the New York City Board of Education (NYCBOE). The school board estimates that the integrated time and attendance solution will result in a $10 million a year savings.
According to CyberShift, its ASP-delivered services will be linked to the board’s legacy human resources and payroll systems. CyberShift’s software will initially manage time and attendance data of 500 employees in the Division of Financial Operations and is scheduled to go live in December 2001.
The scope of the project will be expanded to incldue all of the board’s divisions, incorprating 160,000 employees and 2,100 buildings, CyberShift reports. The total value of the project is expected to be $15-20 million.
“CyberShift demonstrated its ability to handle all the requirements specified in our RFP, including the automation of the application of all our civil service and union rules. It allows customers to upgrade to new releases without the costly retrofitting required by almost every other package product in the marketplace,” said David Wolovick, NYCBOE’s director of business systems development.
“In light of the current economic climate in the United States, the board’s decision to implement this cost-saving strategy is a timely and significant step forward,” said CyberShift CEO Marius Swart.
The New York City Board of Education is the largest school system in the world, employing 160,000 people. It is responsible for 1,200 schools, more than 1,100,000 students and has annual operating budget of $11 billion.
