OpenServices Gains Product, Stakeholder

Nov 13, 2001

Enhancing its network management software offerings, Westborough, Mass.-based OpenService has acquired a
product line from Veritas Software in exchange for an undisclosed equity stake.

OpenService also raised a second round of financing led by new backers Zesiger Capital Group and 1to1 Venture Partners. The investment amount was not
announced.

In the deal with Mountain View, Calif.,-based Veritas, OpenService acquires the NerveCenter, a suite that helps companies predict and prevent problems that can
affect network performance. It also gains a Fortune 500 customers and established resellers.

“OpenServices is well positioned to continue developing the NerveCenter technology to grow and enhance the product, and to meet the support needs of our
customers and channel partners,” said Kris Hagerman, a Veritas senior vice president.

Industry watchers say the NerveCenter network management product complements OpenServices’ SystemWatch security management offering.

“This advanced system functionality will now enable all enterprises to regain control of their network security exposure in real time,” said Matthew Kovar of
The Yankee Group.

OpenService is privately held. In addition to its Bay State headquarters, it has offices in California, Georgia, Michigan and New York, and distributors in the United
Kingdom and Germany.
