Software giant Oracle
(Nasdaq: ORCL) Wednesday launched its new Warehouse Management System, a new product for Warehouse and Distribution Centers.

The Redwood Shores, Calif.-based company says the software helps companies streamline warehouse resource management, warehouse configuration, task scheduling and advanced pick methodologies – not to mention saving them some money.

The platform includes support for warehouse related tasks such as directed picking and put away, automated task dispatching, and compliance labeling. The database also uses License Plate Numbers (LPN) for keeping track of stock and containers.

Oracle also announced the availability of its Oracle Mobile Supply Chain Applications. The applications allows companies to use barcode scanning and radio frequency mobile devices and use the information in existing Oracle Manufacturing, Quality, Receiving, Shipping and Inventory transactions.

“Warehouse Management is another example of Oracle’s continued enrichment of the e-Business Suite,” says Oracle senior vice president Don Klaiss. “With the introduction of this module Oracle now has a complete end-to-end supply chain management and logistics solution for all types of e-Businesses. With more than 3000 customers currently upgrading to Oracle E-Business Suite and more than 450 already live, I believe that we will see rapid adoption of this new application by our installed base.”

Oracle customers such as Qualcomm and partners such as Cap Gemini Ernst & Young are now using the platform
