Pacific Bell Launches ADSL Program

In what marks another effort to speed up the
availability of Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) service in
bandwidth-hungry California, Pacific
Bell today announced it has begun an ADSL Partner Program for Internet
service providers.

ISPs participating in the program are able to act on behalf of Pacific Bell
as authorized ADSL sales representatives to business and residential
customers. In May, Pacific Bell launched broad deployment of high-speed
ADSL service in 200 Califorian communities.

ISPs already signed up in the program include 4Link Network,
Argotech, Bay Area Internet Solutions, Channel Islands Internet, CTSnet,
Data Depot, DSL Networks, EarthLink Network, Flashcom,
WorldCom Advanced Networks, iHighway, Millenia Net, ISP Networks,
NetConcept, Netease, PacificNet, PC Solutions, Sirius Connections, Slip.Net, Softcom, Sonic, zNET. Pac Bell said additional ISPs are expected to join by end of summer.

In addition, the program includes industry heavyweights such as Verio
Southern California, Concentric Network, Best Internet, and Direct Network Access, which are already authorized to market Pacific Bell’s services.

delivery of bandwidth in California and is another example of our
bottom-line focus on the customer in today’s competitive marketplace,” said
Ray Wilkins, president of business communication services for Pacific Bell.
“We are demonstrating our commitment to making our broadband services more
widely available to a wide range of customers throughout the Golden State.”
