Santa Clara-based RivalWatch.com has introduced a strategic business data service that enables eBusinesses to track the product offerings, pricing policies, and promotions of online competitors. Offered under an ASP model, the company’s eMerchandising Platform (eMP) gathers real-time competitive information and makes it available to clients over the Web.

“Competing in the Internet arena is a whole different ballgame than doing business in the traditional brick-and-mortar world because you’re competing with the whole world rather than the store down the block or a few miles away,” says Phil Lumish, VP of Sales and Marketing at RivalWatch.com. “With new products and campaigns being introduced at a breakneck pace, eBusinesses need new tools to monitor the competitive environment, and our eMP service is designed specifically to meet that need.”

Clients can dictate the competitors they want to watch and the specific information they wish to gather, ranging from what products are added, removed or out-of-stock to price changes, coupons, bundling offers and special shipping terms offered at competing sites. Each competitor, category and product can be checked daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly, according to client preference. The service can also manually add promotions that appear in newspapers, email, TV, radio and direct mail where this information is available, enabling clients to deal with regional variances.
