RMI.NET Gets ePowered with Enron

National convergent communications company RMI.NET,
Inc.
Thursday partnered with Enron Communications Inc. to provide broadband
e-commerce solutions for their clients just in time for the holiday sales
season.

ECI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Enron Corp. (ENE),
introduced their ePowered solution program for Internet service providers
last week at ISPCON in San Jose, Calif. The program allows partners to
offer high-speed e-commerce services including broadcast-quality streaming
video and video conferencing over the Internet.

Douglas H. Hanson, RMI (RMII)
chairman and chief executive officer, said that ECI’s next generation
roadband offering would help RMI grow their core e-commerce business services.

“Enron, through its proprietary Enron Intelligent Network and embedded
software intelligence, will provide us with unparalleled quality of service
and the ability to grow these product offering to our customers,” Hanson said.

As a part of the program, RMI will connect directly to the Enron
Intelligent Network, rather than over the public Internet. The direct
connection provides a platform for high quality service, low latency and
scalability to meet mission critical e-commerce bandwidth needs.

Joe Hirko, Enron Communications president and chief executive officer, said
that by becoming an ePowered partner, RMI would be able to offer its
customers superior quality streaming video services.

“We can offer the speed and quality that others cannot match, because we
have built a pure IP network that provides a broad overlay to the public
Internet to eliminate any bottlenecks,” Hirko said. “This provides for
higher capacity and better transmission quality.”

ECI’s ePowered program operates on a shared revenue model with their
partners. RMI is not at liberty to disclose revenue sharing details of
their partnership with ECI. The program also offers joint sales, marketing
and network integration services.

Hanson said that the ePowered program lets RMI differentiate their
e-commerce services from other nationals ISPs and offers a unique broadband
delivery solution.

“Today’s announcement enhances everything that we’re doing to provide
high-speed e-commerce soultions at RMI.NET,” Hanson said. “It’s ciritical
to differentiate ourselves from the other 7,000 ISPs in the U.S. Using
Enron’s intelligent network gives us speed, speed, speed, and provides a
streaming video option to cable modem services.”

The Enron Intelligent Network is based on a pure Internet Protocol strategy
with fiber and satellite distribution through embedded software
intelligence. The energy company offshoot offers their ePowered services to
select Internet service providers nationwide.

Enron currently has connectivity in place to offer broadband access and
high-quality, television quality video over the Internet to more than 25
million desktops and more than 500 points of presence throughout the U.S.

Enron serves major markets nationwide with 12 points of presence in New
York, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, San Francisco,
Seattle, Portland, San Jose and Los Angeles.
