Road Runner Audience Surges

Cable ISP Road Runner Inc. Monday announced it is on pace to hit the 1 million subscriber mark before summer’s end.

Road Runner added more than 182,000 new customers during the second quarter
of this year, taking its current subscriber base to 912,000.

Bill Gordon, Road Runner’s president, said the cable modem service
experienced a very strong second quarter.

“Our subscriber growth continues unabated,” Gordon said. “In addition to
growing our numbers we introduced the next our new customer care program,
Road Runner Medic and a new installation process called Road Runner Connect.”

Gordon said the service and installation enhancements made it easier for
Road Runner subscribers to connect and maintain service to its broadband
Internet services.

Road Runner also hit the road with its first national advertising campaign
in the second quarter, adding to its face-paced growth.

The firm intends to celebrate its millionth customer milestone sometime in
September. Upcoming third quarter service launches include Liberty, N.Y. and Green Bay, Wis.

Road Runner services are currently available in 44 U.S. markets. The cable
system currently passes more than 17 million U.S. homes.

Road Runner cable modem service is a the product of a joint venture between
Time Warner Inc. ,
AT&T Corp. , Microsoft Corp. , Compaq Computer Corp. and
Advance/Newhouse.
