Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. Wednesday announced a deal to develop broadband news and sports programming for cable Internet service Road Runner.
The companies will work together to offer specialized programming made to take advantage of Road Runner’s high-speed network. The content will include news from Fox News Online featuring high-quality video and large-format photographs.
Fox News and Fox Sports Line will each be primary Road Runner content providers and will supply information to Road Runner’s news and sports channels.
Peter Chernin, News Corp.’s president and chief operating officer, said broadband interactive media represents one of the most exciting opportunities for the company.
“This partnership with Road Runner will allow us to stretch the boundaries of what is possible on the Internet and to reach a new, growing and dynamic audience of high-speed access customers,” he said.
Carl Rossetti, Road Runner’s interim chief executive officer, said the agreements with News Corp. are part of the company’s efforts to bring its subscribers “ground-breaking, broadband programming.”
