Rocky Mountain Internet
Inc. plans to offer high-speed access utilizing Digital Subscriber Line
technology beginning Nov. 1.
The DSL service is designed to offer a dedicated connection with bandwidth
of either 256 or 512 kilobits per second. The company did not detail pricing.
To provide the service, Rocky Mountain Internet is working with U S WEST’s !NTERPRISE Group’s MegaBit
Services unit. U S WEST acts as a hub, with its access link transmitting
data from RMI customers’ standard copper telephone lines through an
Asynchronous Transfer Mode network directly to RMI.
“We are excited to offer this new high-speed solution to our growing
customer base,” said Douglas H. Hanson, chairman, president and chief
executive officer of Rocky Mountain Internet. “We have recently had a
record third quarter for dial-up service in what has been historically an
industry-wide slow time, therefore we are anxious about DSL’s sales
potential to our company.”
