Shaw’s Supermarkets to Travel by ASP

Elogex, an ASP that specializes in collaborative logistics applications for the food, grocery and consumer-good industries, today announced it has added Shaw’s Supermarkets, Inc. as a customer. Shaw’s will use the Elogex solution to manage its transportation operations.

According to the Charlotte, N.C.-based Elogex, the first phase of the project will be to execute Shaw’s inbound produce logistics operations.

Shaw’s goal is to automate the entire process of managing logistics across an extensive supplier base.

“Elogex was a perfect match due to their extensive experience with leading grocers and large consumer goods suppliers. We needed a complete platform for collaborative logistics that included inbound, outbound, monitoring and multi-enterprise asset sharing. Elogex was the only vendor that fit the bill,” said Mike Powell, senior vice president of supply chain at Shaw’s Supermarkets.

“By bringing increased efficiencies to our carriers and food suppliers, Shaw’s continues to improve strategic partnerships while increasing visibility to our entire network,” said Michael Griswold, Strategic Process Leader Supply Chain for Shaw’s Supermarkets. “Since Elogex offers a hosted solution, our suppliers don’t have to invest in a costly implementation and they will always be on the latest version.”

Shaw’s Supermarkets manages 185 Shaw’s and Star Market store locations and two distribution centers throughout New England. During the most recently completed fiscal year, total sales were nearly $4.0 billion. Shaw’s is a wholly owned subsidiary of J Sainsbury plc of London.
