Thor and MetraTech Team Up

Application deployment and provisioning ASP Thor Technologies and web services billing provider MetraTech Tuesday (Feb 20) announced an alliance to bring together MetraTech’s native XML billing platform with Thor’s XellerateSP foundation, an application and service provisioning solution for providers and enterprises.

“Provisioning and billing are the two most critical concerns for today’s service providers,” Scott Swartz, president and CEO, MetraTech, told ASP News. “Without billing, it’s just a hobby.”

The integrated platform empowers service providers to automate their customer acquisition, service provisioning and billing processes. The integration of Thor’s XellerateSP with MetraTech’s billing solution removes the expense associated with subscriber provisioning, billing and service termination. The XellerateSP and MetraTech partnership reduces this cost dramatically with a fully automated, integrated approach that eliminates the incidence of human error and speeds activations.

The MetraTech billing solution includes transaction metering, rating, taxing, discounting, bill presentation and payment. Companies using the MetraTech billing solution include application and business service providers, application infrastructure providers, enhanced communications service providers and digital marketplaces.

Waltham, Mass.-based MetraTech utilizes a web services architecture, allowing a fully modular, “pick-and-choose” option for customers wishing to utilize different applications from multiple providers. “Most applications are client-server based, with limited modularity,” Swartz said. “With our web services, they’re not welded together – the customer can change apps quickly, leverage their legacy systems and outsource others as they choose.”

“Accurate metering and flexible billing are core requirements for profitability in a consolidating the service provider market,” said Brian Young, CEO and founder, Thor Technologies. “Together, MetraTech and Thor deliver a flexible, customizable solution that addresses the complexities associated with managing end-to-end provisioning and billing processes.”

Based in New York City, Thor Technologies provides enterprises and service providers with the critical service management infrastructure to rapidly allocate the digital resources necessary to empower, employees, business partners, and customers. Thor is backed by Pequot Capital, the private equity arm of Pequot Capital Management.
