Verizon Communications, through its Verizon Avenue subsidiary, has begun offering high-speed Internet
access service to apartment and condominium buildings in nine new cities including Atlanta, Boston and Washington, D.C.
The service, called Verizon Voyager, was first rolled out in New York in April and is provided using digital subscriber line (DSL) technology located at each
property.
“The Voyager service capitalizes on the exciting capabilities of broadband, and gives property owners another feature to attract and retain residents,” said Liz
Quimson, general manager for Verizon Avenue in Boston.
Property owners allow Verizon Avenue to deploy high-speed Internet access over regular copper phone lines at each property. Placing the equipment on the
premises eliminates distance limitations.
In the Boston area, Verizon Voyager is currently offered at upscale units including: The Residences at Rowes Wharf, the Flagship Wharf Condominiums and 2000
Commonwealth Avenue.
In addition to the above mentioned cities, the service is offered in the Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, and Phoenix markets, with expansion planned to new
cities and buildings. Rates start at about $50 per month.
