May 15, 2000

Harmonic Data Systems Ltd. (HDS) Monday unveiled a DVB standards-based, external satellite receiver designed to deliver high-speed Internet access via satellite.

Satbox can be installed by connecting it to a desktop PC or laptop directly through the USB port. The company states that set up is completed within 60 seconds and no in-depth technical knowledge is required for its connection.

The receiver, which is designed to support digital TV reception on the PC, complies with DVB/MPE and MPEG-2 standards.

“We are offering a `plug and play’ device as
part of our end-to-end CyberStream solution,” said Effi Atad, president of
Harmonic Data Systems. “We have made it easier than ever to take advantage of
high-speed Internet access via satellite.”

HDS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harmonic Inc. , a supplier of digital and lightwave based communications systems.
