NEW YORK – Handheld device maker Palm has used the spotlight of
this year’s TECHXNY to roll out a slew of PDA accessories, including a wireless infrared
keyboard, a multifunction stylus and a plug-and-play, 1.3 megapixel camera card.

The company said the first Palm-branded wireless keyboard would be battery operated and would offer full-sized keys. The $70 accessory connects to Palm devices via infrared.

The new multi-function stylus has been built to perform four functions in one — from a writing pen to a laser pointer to doubling as a flashlight. The company also rolled out six new cases for its branded handhelds.

Looking to cash in on sales during the busy holiday season, Palm also launched a new 1.3 megapixel camera card to allow users to take 24-bit color photos at up to 1280×1024 resolution. The camera card is compatible with all current color Palm handhelds with Palm Photos or PhotoBase software (Tungsten C, Tungsten T and Tungsten T2 handhelds). It is scheduled to ship in December.

Separately, San Francisco-based Mindjet also used the TECHXNY show here to announce the launch of its MindManager X5 Pro tool, an XML-based business mapping software. Mindjet, which provides visual tools for brainstorming and planning, said MindManager X5 Pro would help workplace groups pull together information from emails, documents, databases and Web services in a simplified way.

San Jose, Calif.-based Coyote Point Systems, which provides Internet Traffic Management services, announced that its Equalizer 7.0 load balancing appliance would now ship with a dual gigabit ethernet interface.

The company said the E450 model of Equalizer 7.0 would be fitted with with a 1GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM. Capable of balancing the load for an unlimited number of 64-server clusters, the E450 can handle 4,000,000 simultaneous connections.
