PSC Inc. of Portland, Oregon, a provider of data collection solutions for retailers, has announced Cisco Premier Certified Channel Partner status and Cisco’s wireless Local Area Network (LAN) Specialization.

As a WLAN Specialization partner, PSC will standardize on using Cisco Aironet 350 series products that support 802.11b networks with 802.1X security using EAP protocol, particularly the Cisco LEAP flavor, for user authentication.

“Our retail supply chain customer base will now be in a better position to take advantage of the customer service and cost-saving benefits wireless data collection offers,” says Brad West, Vice President, Mobile and Wireless at PSC.

The Aironet 350 products have been paired up with PSC’s entire line of Falcon line of fixed, portable, and vehicle-mounted data collection terminals since January of this year. They’re also backwards compatible to the Aironet 340 clients and access points. PSC plans to also offer the “rugged” 350 Access Point as an option for possible outdoor environments.

Cisco’s WLAN Specialization is a program for Cisco partner and resellers showing expertise in setup and maintenance of wireless networks throughout a building or from building-to-building using Cisco Aironet products. To get partner recognition, PSC had to complete a series of examinations from Cisco regarding wireless network proficiency as well as prove its current technical support was up to snuff.
