YouTube Mobilizes With Verizon

You’re at the gas station filling up, miles away from your computer, and you think, I could really go for some sweet videos of
trampoline bike tricks right about now.

Well then your lucky day is imminent.

Google property YouTube has just announced a partnership with
Verizon to give Verizon Wireless V Cast customers access to a
selection of YouTube videos from their mobile phones.

The deal is
exclusive and will last only for a limited time, according to a statement.

Verizon Wireless’s V Cast customers who own any one of the Verizon
Wireless V Cast-enabled handsets, including the Chocolate and
MOTOKRZR K1m, will have access to the new service.

Those same users
will also be able to record video and share it with the YouTube
community via their mobile phones.

According to an In-Stat research report, one in eight mobile users said
they were interested in a cellular device with mobile video technology.

By 2008, the In-Stat report states, there will be 50 million portable
media players in circulation worldwide and by 2009, mobile video
subscribers will represent over 10 percent of U.S. wireless subscribers.

For YouTube content, Verizon Wireless
customers can purchase a V Cast VPak subscription for $15 per month or $3 per day. And they don’t have to worry about airtime charges when streaming or watching the content.

Verizon also said the subscription includes unlimited basic video, but application download fees apply for 3-D games and premium video.
