Rogers Media and Micromedia, a division of IHS Canada,
jointly launched Rogers’ Electric Library Canada via
Micromedia’s Information Resource Centre.
Designed for ease-of-use by end-users and simple introduction to
enterprise-wide corporate and organizational intranets, the Information
Resource Centre assembles research tools for Canadian
information sources.
A collection of North American and international sources is
offered, including over 100,000 images; reference works; more than
150,000 television, radio and government transcripts; 580 magazines and
journals; and over 200 newspapers and newswires.
“This combination offers us the opportunity to reach the federal government and
corporate markets, and to achieve strong market penetration in those
segments, similar to our success over the last twelve months in the school,
public library and home PC markets,” added Robert Schock, general manager of Electric Library Canada.
“As Canada’s largest electronic reference and research publisher we know
that the Internet and Web are changing everything,” said Stephen Abram,
Micromedia’s vice-president. “We are delighted to join forces with Electric Library Canada. This
strengthens our leadership position in providing Canadians with Canadian
content in the context of global information.”
