Global network security provider Milkyway Networks announced that the
company’s proprietary Bi-Directional Transparency technology has been awarded a U.S. patent.
Milkyway’s patented technology, a standard feature on all versions of the company’s SecurIT FIREWALL solutions for Sun OS, Solaris, and Windows NT, allows internal network users a high level of transparency for proxy-based firewalls.
It enables these users to connect through the company’s SecurIT FIREWALLs without pre-configuring their network clients (Telnet, FTP, Internet browsers, etc.) or forcing them through a two-step process to connect to the Internet.
Users benefit from the transparency of a router or packet filter coupled
with the top-level security of a proxy-based firewall.
The company has implemented Bi-Directional transparency since the inception
of the Black Hole Firewall for Unix in 1994 and currently incorporates it
into all of its SecurIT FIREWALL products. Milkyway holds the exclusive
rights to bi-directional transparency technology within its products.
