ObjectSoft Signs Ad Contracts With Microsoft, Con Edison

Apr 17, 1998

ObjectSoft Corp. in Hackensack, NJ,
said it signed Microsoft, Con Edison, and the Isabella Geriatric Center as advertisers for its SmartSign kiosk program in New York City.

The first kiosk was installed in the Audubon Business Technology Center of
Columbia University in Upper Manhattan, a biotechnology business incubator
facility. Measuring 7.5 inches deep and modular in design, SmartSign is a
freestanding, interactive, public access kiosk based on Microsoft’s Internet
BackOffice and Merchant Server technologies.

Using an ATM-type touch-screen and keypad, SmartSign allows residents to
access information, regulations, forms, and services directly from New York
City government computers using multi-media technologies. Visitors can also
access hundreds of pages of information on attractions, dining, theater, hotel
accommodations, and transit maps.

Alongside the touch-screen of SmartSign are illuminated transit shelter and
telephone billboards that provide advertising opportunities and revenues.
Additionally, interactive capabilities can be tapped that allow users to
obtain printed coupons and additional information from advertisers.

William A. Polf, deputy vice president for Columbia University Health
Sciences, said the university was pleased to make space in Audubon available.
“It makes sense to place a consumer based information technology service in a facility dedicated to adapting new technologies to health care.”

“SmartSign combines advertising and community services in a cutting-edge, user-friendly format,” said George Febish, co-CEO of ObjectSoft. “SmartSign allows an advertiser to learn about potential customers as they interact with the kiosk.”
