Modem Media Poppe Tyson Thursday won a contract worth more than $11 million from General Electric Co. to develop Internet and intranet initiatives.

A major portion of the deal calls for Modem Media to overhaul GE’s corporate Web site. The first phase of the redesign went live on July 20. Additional personalized content and tools will be added as the project progresses.

“GE business units operate in more than 100 countries around the world, and developing our global Internet enterprise is a key strategic priority for us,” said Gary M. Reiner, GE’s senior vice president and chief information officer.
